Well, maybe not so much a problem with the method, theory, and/or application of bubbling air as a method of drying biodiesel, but I got some nasty foam that I’m sure is no good. I didn’t get any pics but it was your basic yellow cumulus in the eddies where the bubbles didn’t come up. I got the same thing on my last wash but didn’t think much of it. I’ve since put it all back in the wash tank and mist washed the scum to the middle layer. I’m planning on taking all or that ice cream shake stuff out and letting it sit. It make take a few heated mist washes to get all the scum out but that is where I am headed.
I also did a bit of reading and girlMark AKA “the prophetess” posted (somewhere that I didn’t note, but found again at a different site, www.green-trust.org) to test for unreacted mono- and di- glyceride by micro batching your product. Great idea! Bad result. So it looks like we are not getting complete conversion. My first guess is wet oil. I’m going to weigh a sample of my next stock before I brew, then boil it and weigh to test the water content.
